Assumptions are Silly

Assumptions are Silly

assumptions are silly

I betcha so much inner chaos could have been avoided had I just had the courage to inquire instead of assuming.

Too often I read into things, overanalyze and take things as a personal attack and get offended without even considering that what was said may not have had anything to do with me. Or maybe I read into what wasn’t being said....
•••
I’m often on the other end of these silly assumptions and misunderstandings as well. Sometimes people take what I’m NOT saying as what I am saying. That’s what’s can be hard sometimes especially in this world of social media, right?

So, sweet friend, if something I say or do feels personal or pointed, I invite you to simply reach out and initiate a quality conversation for the sake of clarity and connection. I wouldn’t want you to misunderstand something I say or to inadvertently offend you. I hope I am approachable enough to say, “Hey, could you help me understand what you meant by that?” I promise not to be defensive as long as there’s an openness to understand one another. No one likes their backs against a wall feeling defensive because of assumptions and accusations. Staying in curiosity is key to connection. It’s a principle I learned from the core values at Keller Williams as well as #KYLO.

Let’s Pray About It: Ask Holy Spirit to reveal who you may have been accusing or assuming on and for Him to give you the courage to initiate a clarifying conversation for the sake of connection. [I believe in you!]
