This is a personal journal piece written about 8 years ago. Holy Spirit took me through an expository teaching and here I'd like to share with you.
The expository method of Bible study seeks to present truths, concepts and principles that are taught by a Scripture passage. It does not impose a meaning on a passage, but seeks a meaning from the passage
Let's dive in!
And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. -1 Corinthians 10:13
God's plan is intricately designed for us. He simply allows us to face challenges that will teach us, strengthen us and in so doing will lead us closer to Him and help us understand His plan for our lives.
He doesn't give us challenges to produce PAIN, He allows challenges in our lives so that we will GAIN!
The Greek word for temptation can also mean testing. Challenges, hardship, confusion, struggles, etc. can come in many forms such as doubt, fear, anger, uncertainty, death, loss, etc. Anything that stretches us beyond our comfort- when we're comfortable, we tend to lose our faith and dependence on Him. Sometimes He may allow us to experience curve balls in life to remind us to be faithful in Him and not solely on ourselves.
Not IF...When is a PROMISE, a warning, something to be expected!
4. A WAY OUT:
Provision. Victory. Rescue. A rope. A ladder. You will not be in this place forever. The struggle is only temporary! You will (with faith in Him) move past the present circumstances and with enlightenment and a broadened perspective.
BETTER. STRONGER. WISER. HAPPIER.
5. STAND UP UNDER IT:
As a PLATFORM, a step up, a mountain. By standing over it means that you're above it, you've overcome it, you've WON! And with this elevation, you'll see things from a different perspective. People will literally look up to you. You'll gain respect and can use your victory as a teaching opportunity, a testimony of strength. You can use this "stage" as a way of inspiring others!
For WHEN I am weak, THEN I am STRONG! - 2 Cor 12:10
I don't care to be "Well-Known"....⠀
I'd prefer to be KNOWN-WELL. ⠀
Don't we all?⠀
Deep down, yes. This is a deep inner heart need we all have...but here's what I've observed...⠀
The spirit of fear and the conditions of our culture have us filtering, pretending, striving, exhausted...there's an identity crisis happening. Constantly looking around us to gauge if we're measuring up...under the weight of pressure to present ourselves all polished and pretty, right?⠀
How many other people out there want to love God and serve His people? ⠀
I know celebrity christiandom is modeling a culture of striving for spotlight...but what if we took a moment to take our eyes off "them" and instead looked to Jesus and asked, "Hey, Jesus...whatcha doin'? How can I partner with you today to bring life, hope and love to those you place in my path today?" ⠀
Or here's another:⠀
"Hey Jesus, what do you think of what we've made of the modern church?....Will you show me what Your Kingdom priorities are and how I can align with Your vision in this time?" ----That's a risky question...He may share some things you weren't prepared for!
Time to arise and shine the light of His glory into every crack and crevice of this earth.⠀
THIS is YOUR invitation....⠀
Let's do this in alignment with Jesus and the times we're in...let's get creative...think outside the box...get out of the seats and into the streets...after all, we're given the mind of Christ, right...let's study how He did things during His 33ish beautiful, precious years walking the earth...let's try that! ⠀
At the beginning of 2018 I sensed very clearly in my spirit it was "The Year of Acceleration." I got excited! Sounds glamorous! What I wasn't prepared for, however, was the amount of pressing and crushing that would come with it! I've been broken, squeezed, wrung out, ripped apart and gripped for the entire first half of 2018.
Today I want to share with you the intensity of the pressing and crushing and I do so not to "ooze the junk" but because God has and continues to produce a NEW WINE out of me. I've had countless conversations and coached many clients over the years that have also gone through pressing and crushing and if that's what's happening with you right now, I assure you will be empowered in our time here together!
For so long, I was confused and even somewhat critical about the gift of prophecy. I would search the scriptures and try to figure out the "proper way" we as The Church under the New Covenant should outwork this gift. Sometimes even making bold judgments (due to my immaturity and limited understanding) about how it should NOT be used and fearful that it could be used in harmful and manipulative ways.
Over the years as I’ve ministered, coached and counseled people, many people have reached out and confessed their confusion and curiosity for this gift as well. Maybe you’re in this category. If so, I welcome you to read on!
I am so honored to introduce you to my InstaSis, Samantha Miku today! Samantha and I connected via IG and have grew into great friends. Her heart for the Lord is shared through her gift of art, wisdom in writing, and through her everyday obedience to share the love of Jesus in simple, practical ways!
Hope. A simple enough word. But for such a small word it is one that can stir up feelings of inspiration – or disgust.
For those who have faith enough to believe in a God of hope, hope is simply a trust-worthy promise yet fulfilled. But for those who have seen their hopes dashed, or have never had the opportunity to hope, it is a word that can be shunned and despised.
So yesterday I spent some time going through all of my blogs. I counted 103 publish blogs right here on HeatherFerroni.com! Wow! And that’s only since 2017!
The truth is I have been blogging since I was 15 years old. That 18 years! 18 years! That’s over half of my life. I have written on all kinds of different platforms like Blogger and as a contributing author for other publications like TBL Faith News. I love writing because to me is therapeutic and a way for me to express my creative gifts and love for our father. Though when I look back over 18 years and the thousands upon thousands of hours of writing, editing, and preparing in prayer - giving my very best, it seems as though the return on investment is quite low.
Many beauty bloggers nowadays are making a killing off of becoming a “influencer“ and recommending all of their favorite clothes and beauty products for other people to buy. I have no desire to sell other people’s crap most people don’t even really need. And I certainly don’t wanna come across like I’m selling the cause of Christ. But to me, being an influencer means more than drawing attention to myself and getting you to like how cool and popular I am but rather there’s a calling, a burning urgency, an incessant drive to share the cause of Christ…and He’s someone we ALL NEED! Amen?!
This whole week the Lord has been speaking this urgent message of HOPE to share with those that have been feeling down, discouraged, depressed, despondent, downcast. The message of HOPE and LOVE have been resounding.
Have you been disappointed by your pastoral leadership?
Here’s an invitation:
I know what it’s like to process pain. I know what it’s like to walk through the process of digging out the cancerous roots of bitterness, unforgiveness, offense and judgment from my heart. I learned to check my expectations and I’ve learned where/who I can go to get the mentoring, pastoral care, advice, counsel and encouragement from.
And here’s where I’d like to offer you the chance to step into healing, be heard, and process through the tough stuff of life. I’d like to offer you (or someone you know) a free 30-minute coaching call. In this time together we can pray and see what Holy Spirit has to say and also get to know each other and see if we may be a good fit to continue some healing coaching sessions together. Maybe that’s the next step we feel led to take…or maybe we just get a beautiful 30 minutes of conversation and connection. Either way, no pressure. It’s simply my honor to get the chance to chat with you.
If you feel the Holy Spirit pulling on your heart to book a call…my encouragement is not to hesitate. It’s easy. You can just click this button to get access to my calendar and then book whatever time is convenient for you! Simple.
Do you ever catch yourself browsing Amazon for interesting finds? I can’t tell you how many YouTube videos I’ve watched from different influencers about their favorite Amazon products. Though I gotta admit, I’m still an Amazon skeptic. Partly because I’ve made some crappy purchases in the past and also because one of my best friends worked on their customer service team for a few years and would tell me crazy stories.
I know I usually write about all things Kingdom, Jesus, and Church but today, I thought I would share a little something different. Here are some of my favorite Amazon finds!
Here is an updated list. Also check out my previous post from May 2018, “My Favorite Favorites”
God has been working some things out in my heart about the beautiful role as a wife and a woman of God and I feel strongly to share this as a word of encouragement for you!
There’s so much more that could be said on this subject and I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
Have you ever felt like you were under the pressure to be someone you're not? I totally relate.
Maybe you're feeling the tension of trying to fit in when you know you're made to stand out.
This video/blog is inspired by a very vivid vision I received last year in 2018, at a time where I sensed that I was being held back, criticized and even rejected. God was good to reposition me in a new place with leaders that have loved and mentored me as I am without trying to make me to be someone different.
Though we all have the same commissioning, we don't all have the same calling. I encourage you to pray and persist and purpose to align with leaders that will coach, train, champion, cheer and celebrate your calling and all God has created you to be. Kingdom-minded, Christlike leaders understand the honor and responsibility they have to partner with God to shepherd, mentor and train you to become all GOD created you to be. They will not try to pressure you into conforming to their comfort level. They will embrace your uniqueness and help you to emerge and flourish.
